Mission Statement

We believe that early assessment and treatment decisions are best made when they are based on well documented theories and established research findings relevant to the boundaries of normal development.

about

The fact that early circumstances and personality characteristics foreshadow so many later difficulties in childhood and adolescence reinforces findings that better prognosis is typically associated with early detection and intervention programs for at-risk children.

Operating with an understanding that more treatment is not synonymous with better treatment, we emphasize the need for empirically supported and cost-effective assessment and intervention. Long lasting and clinically significant treatment takes the form of building skills in his or her social environment to facilitate a reduction in symptoms, an increase in self-reported happiness and well-being, and the prevention of future declines. This may mean a collaborative approach involving parents, teachers, and medical personnel.
