Divorce / Blended Families
Children of separation or divorce often experience a period of upheaval that may involve the loss of the non-custodial parent on a daily basis, a financial decline, and/or changes in their home or school settings. Further, the parents’ own problems may compromise their ability to provide attention, affection, and consistent discipline. Therapy may target challenges at different phases, such as how to explain separation/divorce to children, assessing how children at different ages react to marital discord and separation, and issues in blending families.
